If you worry a lot, get stressed easily, overthink, or live with a chronic pain or illness, the chances are that someone may have already recommended meditation to you. And for good reason. Mindfulness meditation has been proven to help in all these areas and has been shown to be at least as effective as the leading anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications.
Perhaps you have already tried to meditate and felt like you couldn't do it.
Maybe these sound familiar?
✅ My head is too busy.
✅ I’ve tried it before, and it didn’t work.
✅ It’s too boring.
✅ I have ADHD.
✅ I don’t have time.
✅ It’s too woo woo.
You're not alone. Hundreds of my clients have said the exact same thing.
I Get It – I've Been There Too
I also believed many of these statements were true for me. Additionally, a massive barrier for me was that I am unable to visualise. That’s right, when I close my eyes there is just darkness (I am apparently one of 1-4% of the population with Aphantasia). When I first started trying to meditate in my 20s the practices were so heavily visualisation-based, and I could never picture the forest, or the door to go through – so I gave up.
That, coupled with the fact that my mind was like Piccadilly Circus meant I truly believed I could never meditate. My mind ruled me. It was completely overwhelming; I would catastrophise all the time and was very prone to anxiety and low mood. I really thought I was broken, faulty, and I was desperate to fix myself. How would I ever clear my mind?

How Mindfulness Changed My Life
After trying meds and therapy with limited success, I knew exactly WHY I was like I was, but I was still behaving in unhelpful ways. Luckily, I was introduced to Mindfulness meditation and the practice changed everything for me. I learned how to manage my emotional reactivity and not catastrophise. I felt calmer and had more choice over what I let my mind do. I began to like who I was instead of feeling faulty.
And what helped me in learning how to practice was realising a few key things: Firstly, in most Mindfulness practices there is no need to visualise – we work predominantly with the breath and body sensations.
Secondly, you don’t have to clear your mind! In fact, working with the busy mind IS the practice. Lastly, you do not have to be “good at it”. In fact, the more effort you put into trying to be good at it, the harder it will become. Paradox? Absolutely! And that's why I created this video series to help you.
I will walk you through five simple steps to help you to understand how to practice. I provide tips and guidance to show you that meditation is available to everyone, there are just some things that it's really helpful to know and do for you to get started.
